Freshii
I heard about Freshii a few weeks ago from my co-workers and decided to check it out one day. What I found was a fantastic gluten free lunch option in Boston's Financial District.
Lunch! |
Upon entering, you are greeted with a long counter and a stand that contains little clipboards and pencils. Each clipboard has a little piece of paper with a list of ingredients. You start with a base (soup, salad or a bowl) and then add items as you see fit. Fortunately for gluten free people and other food allergy sufferers, there's a large spreadsheet that has a list of all their ingredients and whether or not they are gluten free, soy free, nut free etc. It usually resides on the counter as you walk in the door. The staff made me a black and white photocopy that I promptly lost because I'm horrible with loose paper. I hope that this list can make it on to their website some day so we can plan ahead.
My first time there, I ordered a brown rice bowl with black beans, spinach, cheese, corn, tomatoes, avocado and chicken. It was pretty substantial in size and fed me for two meals that day.

On other occasions, (yes, there have been multiple occasions), I have gotten the "Mediterranean" version of the mix above and it was just as delicious. Everything is very fresh, the staff is friendly and extremely helpful when it comes to food allergy questions and the food comes out fast. What more could you want in a lunch spot?
Have you tried Freshii yet? What's your favorite gluten free mix?
So glad you enjoyed the gluten-free lunch @Freshii! I posted your article on the main Facebook website so other Freshii fan's seeking gluten free options can try your bowl :)
